3/18/07 We opened the 2007 Turkey Season near Okeechobee, FL. and Bart harvested an Osceola on an evening hunt with cool temperatures and lots of wind. We had a bird come in quick that we couldn't shoot, but the 2nd bird was gobbling and came in quick for a shot in the air.
3/24/07 We opened the Georgia season with Mike Fletcher & Mike Allen. We had a great set-up, turkeys gobbling, but all henned up. About 10:30, we started prospecting and got 4 longbeards in at 10 steps and Mike Fletcher harvested our 1st GA.bird for 2007.
3/25/07 Wow! What a morning. We had 5 jakes strutting at 10 steps, 3 longbeards gobbling at 5 steps, hens dusting and flying up above us to locate our calls, 200+ gobbles heard; 12 year old Rosie with dad Billy Joe Lovette,Tom Fisher; to be continued!
3/26/07 We had Wayne Fann & Vic Jameson, turkeys didn't gobble much on roost, but we got 2 longbeards working, they had hens, gobbled good, but couldn't get in close enough. We'll try again!
3/27/07 Another great hunt, especially when you harvest your 1st & 2nd Wild Turkey. We had 2 gobbling strong come by on our right, then 2 came gobbling right in front, and Wayne dropped both with 1 thunderous shot. I'll let Wayne & Jimmy tell how they chased down one that tried to run away. That was a sight to see!
3/28/07 Slept In.
3/29/07 We took Mike Allen again, this time with his son, Krew
and set-up close to a lone gobbler. We had a good idea which way he would come and with a few seductive calls, we had him strutting and showing his stuff just before Mike lowered the boom!
3/30/07 John Mark Eager and son, Thomas joined us today, but the weather changed with clouds and wind, no luck today!
3/31/07 We had Billy Joe and Rosie close to 3 longbeards, but no shot.
4/1/07 Learning from yesterday's
hunt, we set-up in a cut-over using a Double Bull blind, and the result was 2 longbeards strutting at 15 yards and a father daughter teaming up for a "double". Great job Billie Joe and Rosie! PM Hunt: we went for an evening hunt and the Wayne "fan" brought a large longbeard in, but caught us off-guard. 4/2/07 Plans from yesterday had us in position today with Cary and young Taylor. Plenty of gobbles and the Wayne "fan" pulled in a big Jake that we let walk.
4/3/07 Foggy this morning on the river & not much action for Charles Hobby and son David.
4/4/07 Hunted with Greg Justice, son Zach and Greg's father. No gobbles on the roost, but got one started at 7:35. He was in a strut zone, and we bumped him changing position. Greg fired twice at the big Tom, but missed.

4/6/07 Took Ethan Barwick and his dad from Nazarene Church wild game supper, made a turkey gobble twice with owl hoot, but no action after that.

The wind & cold may have been why they had no luck.
4/8/07 Easter (no hunts)

4/13/07 Great morning, they started gobbling early with an owl call, we set-up close, but the longbeard struted by with his hens, and Jimmy decided not to shoot so we could take a friend later. We enjoyed having Francois along on the hunt.
4/14/07 Made a quick hunt with
Cary Sutton, but the turkeys weren't there. We watched a huge longbeard on the powerline, but couldn't get him to come.
4/15/07 No hunt
4/16/07 We had Joe Parker and Rick Herr hunting a big strutter we saw Friday. It took some chasing, but we got a trophy longbeard for Rick's 1st turkey.
4/17/07 Joe and Rick joined us again today, we had a perfect early set-up, Joe shot as the hen lead the old gobbler by us.
4/18/07 We took Joe & Rick to Brooks Co. and had 3 gobbling early with no takers. We did hear several hens in the area.
4/19/07 A nice morning, light fog, and NO turkeys gobbling. Hunted with Nolan Cox, heard 2 way off and then nothing?
4/20/07 Nolan and I learned where to start today from yesterday's hunt and it paid off with a hot gobbler coming staight in for the shot!
4/21/07 Hunted with friend Phil Furney and his friend Earnie Price. We set-up in a proven area and had birds all around. Two big jakes came in and Earnie couldn't resist taking a shot. It was a little high and entertaining to all!

4/28/07 Tried a new place, saw a hen up close and walked up on a jake, no longbeards.
4/29/07 Hunted with Tony Franks & friend Travis, Perfect morning, set-up close to a hen and had 3 gobble, one was really hot cross river. Had to leave, no shot.
4/29/07 Nice morning, heard few gobbles way off, no takers today!
5/1/07 and 5/2/07 Jimmy went with Jonathan & they chased a few, then next with Tony, they chased a few, but no volunteers.
5/3/07 We are taking Scott Fletcher, and we are running late, the turkeys are gobbling when we open the truck door. They gobble like crazy, no shot, then we prospect some and we get back to our morning set-up, he gobbles, Scott shoots him within a few minutes. Wow!
5/4/07 Scouting trip for next Saturday's hunt. Heard birds early, watched a strutter with long beard, have a game plan!
5/5/07 Hunted with Mr. Halstead Sr. and grandson, Jacob. Jeremy Hobb and Harold Hobb put us on 3 birds and we managed to get one in pretty close, but couldn't get the shot.
5/6/07 No hunt.
5/7/07 Met Tony to try a clear-cut bird. Put out B-Mobile, but the bird wasn't there today.
5/8/07 This unusually cool morning found us hunting with John McTier and hearing several birds on the roost. We didn't get much action early, but moved and found 2 birds ready for business. In a few minutes John was holding his 1st turkey!
5/9/07 We did some scouting and thought today James Lee was going to harvest a boss gobbler, but as turkey hunting goes, the boss didn't show. We didn't suffer, Cindy had a Great breakfast. Worth getting up early!
5/10/07 Todays numbers don't reflect how close big boy came today! We had my pastor Rick Stevens and friend Roger Sims and Roger came close to harvesting a big old longbeard. Jimmy had the bird hot, but another gobbler came in a spoiled any chance to get him.
5/11/07 We had a great morning largely due to our scouting trip yesterday afternoon. Hunting with James Lee Herndon, we had 2 longbeards out front and James Lee dropped the hammer on his 1st called in turkey. Jimmy and I are headed to Leesburg for 2 specisl hunts. Watch for my report!
5/12/07 We had Jacob back for an evening hunt Friday at Mossy Dell, and couldn't get any to respond. Saturday, we took a young boy, Trip, and maybe all the smoke had the birds shut down. Jacob did get his 1st. bird Saturday. Congratulatons Jacob!
5/13/07 Mother's Day (no hunt)
5/14/07 Hunted with Frank Richards, had a good set-up and the birds gobbled some, but wouldn't come. Later that evening we scouted with Thomas McTier and John for birds to hunt Tuesday.
5/15/07 A little smoke but a nice last day. Turkeys were where Jimmy left them last night and by 7:15 am Thomas McTier (age 12) dropped the hammer on his 1st wild turkey. Grandpaw killed his 1st a week ago today! A great day! A great season, with 10 of our 16 turkeys harvested being 1st time turkeys!
Lookin forward to next year!
